ascend Dance Studios

Northamptonshire · Ages 8–14

Open dance classes,
every ability welcome

Ninety-minute sessions at a range of locations across Northamptonshire, mainly through the school half terms. Experienced or brand new — if your child wants to dance, there is a place for them.

The classes

Two sessions, two age groups

We run two separate sessions so that each group dances with others their own age. Both are 90 minutes and cost £10.

Session one

Ages 8–10

Warm-ups, routines and games that build rhythm, balance and confidence — no experience needed and no audition, ever.

  • 90 minute session
  • £10 per class
  • Supervised throughout

Session two

Ages 11–14

Longer routines and more technique, still at a pace that works for complete beginners. Dancers who already train get room to push themselves further.

  • 90 minute session
  • £10 per class
  • Supervised throughout

These are open classes

There is no fixed weekly timetable and no term-long commitment. Each session's time and location go out on Instagram and TikTok 1–2 weeks before it runs. Come to the ones that suit you.

School half terms

This is when classes normally run, and when you can expect the most sessions.

During school term

Only ever on an alternate Saturday afternoon, and only if a session is running at all. Always check our socials first.

Before you come

What to bring

There is no uniform and nothing to buy. Three things are all your child needs.

Suitable clothing

Something comfortable your child can stretch and move freely in.

Appropriate footwear

Trainers or soft dance shoes — whatever they already have is fine.

A drink

A filled water bottle. Ninety minutes of dancing is thirsty work.

Payment is £10 per class, either in cash on arrival or by bank transfer. We'll send you the transfer details when you get in touch by email or on social media.

Safeguarding

Your child is looked after

Every session is supervised by two adults who are DBS checked and hold a chaperone licence. We keep the ratio tight and the room calm so that parents can drop off with confidence.

An activity waiver is compulsory for every child attending a class. It sets out our full safeguarding arrangements, along with medical and emergency contact details. Please complete it before the first session.

Our team

Demi Masters

Demi Masters

Instructor

“Hey! I’m Demi and I have been dancing for almost 14 years — I started when I was just 2 years old! I currently have distinctions in Grades 1–4 of BTDA examinations and I’m Grade 5 now. I’ve done several local pantomimes and countless shows and competitions. Since I was just 10 years old, I have been assistant teaching young dancers in ballet, tap and modern jazz, and I loved every part! I look forward to beginning my journey with Ascend, and I’m beyond grateful to be doing it with my own best friend, who I met through dance!”

Emie Madden

Emie Madden

Instructor

“Hiya, I’m Emie. I’m a trained grade 6 dancer in tap, modern jazz and classical ballet through BTDA. I have recently successfully auditioned for six dance colleges and accepted my place to start training on the BTEC Level 3 Performing Arts Practice course at Arts1. I have loved being a part of my local pantomime and assisting weekly classes for dancers aged 4–13 for two years.”

Common questions

FAQs

Anything not covered here, just ask — we’d rather you checked than wondered.

How old does my child need to be?

Classes are for ages 8 to 14. There are two sessions — ages 8 to 10 and ages 11 to 14 — so your child dances with others their own age.

When do classes actually run?

These are open classes rather than a weekly timetable. Most run during the school half terms. During school term, if anything runs at all, it will only ever be on an alternate Saturday afternoon.

Each session's time and location are posted on Instagram and TikTok 1–2 weeks before it runs.

How much is it, and how do I pay?

£10 per class. You can pay in cash on arrival, or by bank transfer — we’ll send you the details when you get in touch by email or on social media.

Does my child need dance experience?

No. Every ability is welcome and there is never an audition. Complete beginners and children who already train regularly are both catered for in the same session.

Do I need to book, or can we just turn up?

Please get in touch first. It lets us tell you the next dates, send the activity waiver, and make sure there’s space. The waiver is compulsory before a first session.

What should my child bring?

Comfortable clothes they can move in, trainers or soft dance shoes, and a filled water bottle. There is no uniform and nothing to buy.

Can I stay while my child dances?

Parents wait outside rather than in the room during the class itself, but you’ll see your child at water breaks. Every session has two supervising adults who are DBS checked and chaperone licensed.

Where are classes held?

At a range of venues across Northamptonshire. The venue changes from session to session, which is why each one is announced on our socials 1–2 weeks ahead.
